The boys have been begging for a skateboard for about two years now. I put them off last summer whenever we were garage saling and would come across one (mostly because they were either way too big and/or junk (real junk. not the good kind)).
But today, we found a child's size one at a church rummage sale and since it was in relatively great shape, I let them get it.
Not a single one of us knows how to ride one. But that doesn't stop them from immediately trying every trick in the book that they've ever seen, or think they've seen...!
I suggested that before they get too carried away, maybe we should invest in some helmets, and knee pads, and elbow pads. Carter was thinking they should also get "metal suits" (a knight's armor).
Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea...
at least then it might be impossible to ride the thing. And it doesn't get much safer than that.
